Directory policy
How providers are listed
A directory is only useful if the rules behind it are visible. These are ours.
Listing criteria
- The program serves people in New York City or accepts New York City residents.
- The program appears in a primary public record, or its licensing status can be confirmed directly.
- A working public website or phone number exists for direct contact.
- Marketing claims that cannot be substantiated are not reproduced in the listing.
Verification sources
- New York State OASAS Provider and Program Search
- SAMHSA FindTreatment.gov
- The provider’s own official website and published contact information
- Direct confirmation with the program’s administrative staff, recorded with a date
Last-verification date policy
Every listing displays the date its record was last checked. Listings are re-checked on a scheduled basis, and a listing that cannot be re-verified is flagged or removed rather than left to age silently.
What “verified” means — and does not mean
Verified means we confirmed specific facts against a named source on a specific date. It does not mean a program is recommended, endorsed, high quality, currently accepting patients, in network with your plan, or clinically appropriate for any individual.
Requesting a listing or correction
Programs and members of the public can request a new listing, a correction, or a removal through our contact form. Corrections that affect accuracy are prioritized, and the last-verified date is updated when a record changes.
Sorting and sponsored listings
Default sorting is not for sale. Any listing that involves payment, sponsorship, affiliation, referral arrangement, or common ownership carries a visible relationship label on the card itself — never only in a footnote. If sponsorship is introduced, sponsored placements are labeled and separated from organic results.
What we will not publish
- Superlatives such as “best,” “top,” or “trusted” for any facility
- Insurance acceptance claims without a named source and a “verify directly” note
- Star ratings, aggregate ratings, or reviews we cannot substantiate
- Fictional, scraped, or unverified listings
